Vedant Joshi

Jr. Engineer, D&O

I embarked on my academic journey by pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Motorsport Engineering at Oxford Brookes University. Returning to India in 2021, I sought to apply the knowledge I had acquired. During an event held in Mumbai, I had the pleasure of meeting Omkar. Witnessing the impactful work he was engaged in, I was inspired to seek hands-on experience in a similar domain. The nurturing atmosphere provided me with the liberty to learn from my errors. Currently, I find myself at the peak of my technical prowess, largely thanks to the dynamic and fast-paced environment I've been exposed to.

My fascination with motorsports ignited during my second year of college when I became a part of the college racing team. Progressing through my academic journey, I eventually assumed the role of lead for the chassis department in my final year. I distinctly recall my inaugural project involving the design of an X brace for the E-36. Initially, I grappled with where to begin, but Omkar Sir offered valuable guidance, suggesting I first understand the purpose behind integrating the X brace. This experience exposed me to various facets, such as automotive seating and seatbelt mechanisms. I delved into understanding their diverse types and applications, which deeply resonated with me, prompting my decision to forge a career within the realm of Automotive Seating.

Motorsports had such an influence over my childhood that I always fantasised to be a part of European F1 giants such as Scuderia Ferrari, McLaren F1 team, etc. Even as a five year old it always gave me thrills to watch Schumi win those consecutive championships in his red prancing horse, and the team efforts they put in to make sure he does so every time. Although, all those fantasies were short lived when I realised, neither was I from a wealthy family nor born in an easy country to get into motorsports.

A very measured learning environment which gave an actual feel of what it takes to be a race car engineer. I remember the M2 project, marginal upgrades that we did within a week. It was one hectic experience, development of that many upgrades in such a small window. Although, watching that car pull quicker lap time on BIC felt like it was worth doing. To be honest, the exposure and real life problem solving helped me alot in my career.

Engineering education in this country does not adequately prepare individuals to meet the demands of the industry. As a result, even I lacked proficiency in major modern techniques and methodologies that were limited to the realm of textbooks during my college years. This learning process facilitated the transformation of theoretical knowledge into practical application, ultimately enhancing my existing skill sets and augmenting them further. These experiences will forever hold a special place in my life.

Sujoy Dutta

Automobile Engineer

Having graduated from Pillais College of Engineering with a degree in automotive engineering, my heart was set on a path that allowed me to fuse my academic knowledge with real-world applications. This led me to D&O Motorsports, a place where I could use the gained knowledge, see the results in real time, and learn new motorsports technologies.

My journey was a riveting adventure fueled by my unyielding passion and unwavering determination. From the initial moments of restoring supercars and conceptualizing innovative exhaust designs to the intricate process of developing a high-performance track car, the thrill of speed inspired me to push boundaries. As I navigated this journey, the pursuit of excellence remained my unwavering compass, driving me toward new horizons and accomplishments that awaited on the road ahead.

Vishal Patnure

Automobile Engineer

The journey towards cars and bikes began with my 1st-year project when we designed a Hybrid Chargeless Vehicle, garnering significant fame and respect within the educational sector. Navigating through those days, the trajectory of my life's journey shifted to a new path laden with diverse experiences and unforgettable moments.

During my academic pursuits, I acquired a comprehensive understanding of automobiles, which we then applied to our project. This knowledge now serves as a cornerstone in shaping my life. I have been acquiring proficiency in new technologies and software, utilizing various machinery, and collaborating with numerous high-performance cars. This encompassed task ranging from restoration and servicing to the conceptualization of vehicles, creating a truly remarkable journey.
